Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the Stay at Home Act, our team has decided to change the focus of our project to match these current events. Our new goal is to help inform others on how to stay safe while also being able to communicate with their distant friends and family during isolation. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1sM3dNd5EZ8ttUNl5tzXJoBmY8NfT7qH7/view The Athenaia team sought to challenge themselves and others into completely reducing meat from their diet. Below are some experiences from fellow Athenaia members as they express their experiences partaking in this challenge.
Sharo Perez: "I spend one week eating extra healthy. At first, I did found it difficult because my meals would consist of a portion been meat. As the days went it got much more easier because my mom did cook meals that did not required meat or she would cook but do a separate plate for me. I also, found it hard eating meals in school because I did not bring my own meal so it was hard but not impossible because their was times where the food had no meat on it. I would recommend this challenge because it is fun to do and you get to realized that you don't need to eat meat everyday and that it is good to take brakes." See gallery. Jovanna Rojas: "Being able to accomplish the No Meat Challenge was a goal. Mostly, because some of the meals contained a certain type of meat like ham for example. However, through the week it became easier and fun. It was fun because in school days I was able to see how much meat we eat without even thinking it twice. This made it much easier because I was alert to what I was going to eat. At the same time, it was much easier eating at home because I was able to make my separate plate and compare what I would have eaten. Overall, this would be a great challenge for anyone that is willing to try something new. However I would not recommend it if you are in school because there were times where I was a bit hungry." On February 3rd, our school got rid of plastic straws and encouraged students to minimize their use of plastic utensils. With this small step, the Lennox GBLA team creates a bigger impact on our community.
